To provide hope & healing to the greater community through spiritual direction, retreats, coaching and other spiritual formation practices.
Meet Our Director
Vicki Askew is the Executive Director of the Center and also provides spiritual direction and trauma informed care workshops through the Center. She believes that each of us is created in the image of God, accepted as we are, and loved unconditionally.
Vicki is a native Nashvillian and became a spiritual director after a career in the corporate world. She received her certificate in Spiritual Direction and Formation from Lipscomb University in Nashville and her master facilitator certificate from the Trauma Healing Institute in Philadelphia.
Vicki is married, has two adult children and two amazing grandchildren. She is a member of Woodmont Christian Church in Nashville and is an active member of the Nashville nonprofit community.

Ben Curtis
Dr. Ben Curtis is the Spiritual Director in Residence at the Center. He retired after more than four decades as Professor of Religion, Pastoral Care, and Spiritual Formation at Belmont University. Ben leads continuing education for spiritual directors through the Center and is a sought after speaker on the subject of Spiritual Formation. Ben is widely viewed as one of the foremost spiritual directors in the country.
Danny Bryant

Danny serves as a pastor at St. Mary of Bethany Parish in Nashville and as Athletic Director at Independence Academy. He has over ten years experience in education as a teacher, coach, and administrator in elementary, middle, and high schools. He was trained in Spiritual Direction in the Doctor of Ministry Program at Lipscomb University in Formation and Justice.
Danny is passionate about accompanying others as they listen to their own lives for God’s invitation to the freedom and play of love.
Beth Patillo

Rev. Beth Pattillo is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) a certified Gallup Clifton Strengths Coach, and a spiritual director. She specializes in faith-based coaching using the Clifton Strengths Full 34 Report. Beth can also serve as a spiritual director, focusing on deep interior work and the inner life.
Mary Clare Pyron

Mary Clare Pyron is a Wellness and Life coach and Nurse Practitioner. She received her coaching training through the Nurse Coach Collective. The blend of her nurse practitioner skills and nurse coach training equips her to look at the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Mary Clare is a lifelong member of Woodmont Christian Church.
Sandy Smith

Sandy Smith is a spiritual director, retreat leader and facilitator. She joined Woodmont over 25 years ago, after moving to Nashville. Her Leadership Woodmont experience left her hungry to learn more about spiritual practices. She has served as Elder Chair and facilitated both Leadership Woodmont and Companions in Christ. Sandy is a graduate of the Shalem Institutes’ Spiritual Guidance Program and Soul of Leadership.
